Manchester United offers midfielder contract extension
Manchester United have triggered a one year extension option in the deal of midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
This comes as fellow midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin prepares to complete his move to Everton.
Fellaini joined United in 2013 from Everton as David Moyes' first signing at United for a £27.5. He joined United on a four year deal with the option of another year. But has struggled to impress a number of United fans.
He came under intense criticism this season after his late foul led to the penalty from which his former club equalised against United on December 4.
Mourinho has however been keen on and supported the midfielder despite boos he usually suffer from a section of the United fans.
The Belgian scored the second goal for United in the 2-0 win over Hull City, and jubilated by running all the way to Mourinho for a hug.
"I think he wanted to show that he knows how much." Mourinho said after his jubilation in the win over Hull City.
"I supported him in a couple of difficult moments for him. It was probably because I told him you are going to score the second goal, I don't know. It was nice for him to score in front of the fans and the second goal that can be an important goal."
José Mourinho has now activated the one year contract extension in his contract which will extend his stay at United till 2018.
