Andreas Pereira has revealed that he and José Mourinho are talking despite his ongoing loan spell at Spanish club Granada.
The 21 year old joined the La liga side at the start of the season, when it became clear that his chances of getting enough first team action under Mourinho was very slim. He has since been personally impressive for his new club, though the club are in the relegation zone, currently 18th, seven points away from safety.
The Brazilian is happy that he made the temporary move away from Old Trafford, as it afforded him the opportunity to get more playing time.
“I think it was very good for me to come here to be able to play regularly,” Pereira told Sport Witness
“Here I could do this and for me it was very important. The team is not in a good situation, but we’re working hard to get out of it.”
The midfielder then said Mourinho has been keeping tabs on him.
“Yeah, we’re always talking,” says Pereira about Mourinho. “He’s been following me and I’m happy for that.”
But for a multi positional midfielder, he and Mourinho haven't been talking about the the position he will play when he gets back to United, though he stated that he is willing to play anywhere the manager wants him.
“No, it still wasn’t talked about. At the end of the loan, when I get back to Manchester, then we’ll see what happens. For now, I’m focused here and trying to help my team.
“Actually, if I have to play for Manchester United, I want to play wherever the manager thinks I should play. I can play in many positions and that’s something good.”
Pereira has always been promising and next season will be very important in his United career. United will most likely lose two midfielders in Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick. And he could come in handful to replace any of the two within the first team.
He can form a good partnership with either of Paul Pogba or Ander Herrera.
His current contract with United expires next season, and the next 12 months will be key in his future.
